Community Groups Collaborate on Candidate Forums

The Power Coalition, VOTE, Step Up Louisiana and The Jeremiah Group have partnered to give voice to the people in candidate forums being held in both Orleans and Jefferson parishes.

On the heels of a historic election in Orleans Parish, voters will head back to the polls for a special election on March 24 to fill state house seat in District 93, a judgeship in in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal, and another judicial chair in Civil District Court, Division A.

On the same day, residents of Jefferson Parish will have an opportunity to change the course of history by participating in the democratic process and electing a new sheriff versus being governed by someone appointed by his predecessor.

As a 501(c3) table of non-profits, the Power Coalition understands how critical it is to engage all stakeholders and create the space for their concerns to be addressed by the candidates during this electoral process. These public formats will allow voters an opportunity to hear first-hand how the candidates stand on issues that impact their everyday lives and their commitment to collaborate with the community to devise resolutions along with developing stakeholder partnerships.

The Power Coalition is a civic engagement table that is building statewide infrastructure in Louisiana to shift power back to the people, turn back policies that hurt Louisiana families, and increase voter participation, all through civic engagement.
