Grammy award-winning singer Faith Evans spoke with The New Orleans Tribune about her new album and the local release party for the project, The King and I, which will take placed during The Robert Pack Foundation fundraiser, “Pack’s Celebrity Playhouse” at Fulton Alley tonight.
Evans and Pack have been good friends for over 20 years.
“I met Robert promoting my first album, Keep the Faith, in 1995.” Evans has been to New Orleans several times and she’s excited about this year’s Essence festival and the chance to grab some great food; especially étouffée.
With her album release and Robert Pack’s fundraiser, Evans looks forward to “promoting the foundation and supporting the youth and a good friend (Robert Pack).”
The collaborative album, The King and I, features the immortal voice of Hip-Hop legend and her late husband, Notorious B.I.G. Evans hopes her fans and Biggie’s fans respond well to the “musical movie” that illustrates the great music on this album.
Evans mentioned the complex challenges and creativity into bringing Biggie’s vocals back to the world. Her favorite song to record on this album, “Legacy,” was produced by re-known producer, Stevie J. Evans believes this song “embodies the spirit of the album.”
Evans shares the monumental success and influence of her late husband with their son, Christopher Jordan Wallace. With 25 tracks, The King and I captures the undying passion, creativity and love from a mother, wife, and R&B legend 20 years after Biggie’s death.
